MOAR Members Develop Recovery Community Action Plans ~ You are invited!
April 24th, Springfield – Focus – Educating Communities, Making Change Diane Teta, Rene’Andersen, Bill Sciturro, Diane Kurtz, Tanyss Martula, Bob Pisani , Maryanne Frangules followed up on plans to do outreach to the medical community. The Holyoke Hospital Grand Rounds Presentation will probably take place in the fall. The Interagency Youth Task Force facilitated by BSAS Regional Director Ruth Jacobsen Hardy. Treatment gaps, Insurance Coverage, Crisis Team deficits were highlighted-and next step – developing community linkages, education, and advocacy. We reviewed MOAR’s part of the CSAT grant application as our planning guide to public forums to address youth and family services, needs, policies. Everyone wanted to include policymaker education training. Members reviewed possibilities of a Phoenix Academy Open House Forum--

possible speakers, keynote, for Recovery Day. We came up with great ideas that need to be reviewed with by the other regions. Good possibility that Recovery Day maybe September 26th! Recovery Brochure Designing brainstormed. Members reviewed CSAT grant application as a tie in with ways to develop forum and outreach to families.
April 25th New Bedford Intro to MOAR at Prevention and Education Mtg
Attendees reviewed their efforts to work together as a community partnership. Their energy with representation from PAACA, HighPoint, AdCare Hospital, District Attorney’s Office, Reflections, Treatment on Demand, and other agencies is great. The partnership will be sponsoring a Paint a House Program on June 2. MOAR was asked to help promote Recovery Month via a community televised interview. Noted: planning session for a New Bedford MOAR meeting will be May 9, 6PM, Reflections House.

This led to membership outreach, community forum building, media development ~ and Recovery Month.
